A mock is only useful if it feels like the real thing. Treat it as an exam, not as homework.
Plan two sittings. Day 1: Lezen (55 min) and Schrijven (50 min). Day 2: Luisteren (45 min) and Spreken (about 12 min). Take a break of at least 15 minutes between parts.
Recreate exam conditions. At an exam centre it can be noisy, so don't choose noise cancelling head phones. Have a clock or timer you can see, your paper NT2 pocket dictionary for Lezen and Schrijven only, scrap paper and a pen. Phone on silent and out of reach, except to record Spreken.
Divide your reading time. 55 minutes for 3 texts is about 18 minutes per text. Read the questions first, then the text. If you're stuck on one question, choose your best guess, mark it and move on.
Listen once, really once. Read the questions before the fragment starts, take short notes while you listen, and answer straight after. Don't replay anything.
Speak with a timer. Record each answer on your phone. Start at the "beep" (start the timer), and stop at 20 or 30 seconds even if you're in the middle of a sentence.
Then score honestly. Use the answer keys and the rubrics below. The aim is not a high score but a true picture: which task types need more work before you book the real exam?
Instructions (shown to the student): You have 50 minutes for three tasks: about 12 minutes for task 1, 12 minutes for task 2 and 25 minutes for task 3. You may use a paper NT2 pocket dictionary. Type your answers, then send them to your teacher. The model answers are shown after you submit.
Task 1 · Zinstaken (4 × 1 sentence)
1. Naam en afdeling
2. Welke cursus kiest u?
3. Waarom kiest u deze cursus? (2–3 zinnen)
4. Welke dag past het best, dinsdagavond of zaterdagochtend? Waarom? (1–2 zinnen)
Schrijf ongeveer 120–150 woorden. Schrijf over:
- wat je op de cursus hebt geleerd (minimaal twee dingen);
- wat je goed vond aan de cursus;
- wat minder goed was;
- een tip voor je collega's.
Model answer:
Verslag cursus EHBO
Groet,
Ewa
Scoring rubric · Schrijven (24 points)
Task · What earns points · Points
Instructions (shown to the student): Record each answer on your phone or in the app. Read the task, take at most 10 seconds to think, start a timer and speak: 20 seconds for tasks 1–4, 30 seconds for tasks 5–8. Stop when the time is up. Send the eight recordings to your teacher. The model answers are shown afterwards.
# · Kind · Opdracht (Dutch, as shown or heard) · Model answer
Scoring rubric · Spreken (24 points)
Criterion (per answer) · 0 · 1
3 points per answer × 8 answers = 24 points.
Component · Real exam (programma I) · This mock (half length)
Most common mistakes in a mock exam:
1. Work out your score per component.
Component · How to score · Max · Target (60%) · Ready (70%+)
2. Estimate your result per component. This is an estimate, not the official conversion: the real scale is calculated per exam version and isn't public.
You can book and pass the components separately, so a weak component doesn't mean waiting for everything.
3. Find your weak task types. Look at the questions you got wrong (the task-type tag is in the Tags column) and at the rubric lines where you lost points.
If you lost points on… · Task type · Revisit
4. What happens after a fail. When the mock results page exists, a checkpoint fail (below 60) or a component below 60% creates catch-up homework on the two weakest task-type tags. Until then, the teacher assigns the lessons from the table above as homework.
5. Before you book the real exam: aim for 70%+ in this mock in every component you plan to take, then do at least one official practice exam (link below) in the real exam software.
