Er 3 - Er as a place

The small word er is used in five ways. Here we take a look at the third one.

Er as a place

Er replaces the place. The place should be clear by context.

• Ben jij ooit in Spanje geweest? Ja, ik ben er geweest. 
• Wat doe jij in het park? Ik lees er een boek.
• Ben je in het huis van Piet geweest? Ja, ik heb er vorige week een kop koffie gedronken.
