Read a book by yourself before the meeting and discuss it with others during the meeting.

We read books from Leeslicht which are adapted for Dutch students (+/- B1). So make sure you buy the right version (see links below). Often you can also opt for the original version.

13 januari: De Avonden (special)!
Every year, thousands of readers in the Netherlands open the same book on the same day. The story of De Avonden (The Evenings) spans the period from December 22nd to New Year's Eve. Re-reading this story annually - one chapter a day - is a tradition among book lovers across the Netherlands.
Join the Dutch and read this book around Christmas and New Year's Eve. The meeting is on January 13th to give you a little extra time ;).
Be aware that this is not an easy book (both the writing style and the content).

Yes. Just select the group you'd like to join and click the "write an email to join" button and we will give you more details!
One week before the start date you will receive a Zoom link and the instructions for the first lesson. A reminder will be sent the day the lesson takes place. When you click the link you will join a Zoom call with your teacher and fellow students.
Usually, lesson material is shared per lesson instead of per course. This means that you'll receive an email with new material each week, so you can prepare for the next lesson.
During the first lesson, we'll pay attention to an introduction. It's important students get to know each other. This helps create a fun and safe environment for language learning.
Missing one or more lessons isn't a problem for most courses: you can continue with the course.
It's not possible to make up for the lesson in another group or future course. You will, however, receive the lesson notes. If you'd like, you can write about the topic of the missed lesson. You can send your piece of text to the teacher and receive feedback on your writing.
Just send an email to info@thedutchonlineacademy.com describing your language learning background and goals. Our teacher will think along with you and send you some example materials.
We have spent a long time considering the ideal group size for each course. In the course description, you'll find a description of the amount of participants (minimum & maximum). The groups are relatively small and rarely bigger than 5 to 8 students.
Preparation varies by course. In the course description, you will find more details. You will also receive instructions about lesson preparation in the first email, sent one to two weeks before the start of the course.
All materials are included in our courses and shared via email. The only exception is the book club. If you participate in the book club, you must purchase and read the book (for more info, look at our reading club).
With a PRO account, you'll have access to unlimited flashcards, PRO podcasts, all the Video Courses and the Wordle history. It's included in certain courses for extra learning support. In the course description you'll see how many months access are included. If you buy multiple courses with a PRO account included, the one with the longest time of access will be applied. If you already have a yearly PRO subscription, the purchase of a course including PRO access doesn't change your account.
When the access period has expired (so when the course ends), you can continue your PRO access by purchasing a PRO subscription or enrolling in a follow-up course with access to PRO.
