Deze, die, dit and dat are demonstrative pronouns.
A demonstrative pronoun can stand for a noun instead of an article (de film, die film).
Examples deze/die/dit/dat:
- for de-woorden you use die or deze
- De deur - die deur (far away) /deze deur (nearby).
- for het-woorden you use dat or dit
- Het bureau - dat bureau (far away) /dit bureau (nearby).
